Whether you are a newbie at cooking, an awful cook, or just out of time for a potluck, you can always bring a bag of chips! There are a few simple rules that you may want to follow when bringing chips to a potluck.
How do you bring chips to a party?
Here are 5 simple things to keep in mind when you bring chips to a party. This will make sure the other guests are happy and make less work for your party host!
- Don’t just bring a bag of chips and throw them on the table. Bring something to put the bag of chips in! (For example, bring a large bowl or plastic Tupperware. This will make it much easier for people to grab the chips they want and keep the line moving!)
- Bring along a dip or spread unless the host specifically asked you to bring chips to accompany another item. Whether you are bring tortilla chips or potato chips, you should also bring something for the chips to go with. This could be a salsa, hummus, or premade dip.
- Always bring a spoon or spread knife for the guests to get the dip or spread on their plate. We don’t want guests dipping their chips into the salsa or dip, so help everyone out and bring a spoon! (If you forget, just grab a plastic spoon and this will work out great.)
- Skip the crazy flavors! Instead opt for a plain potato chip or regular tortilla chips. You may love spicy hot ranch ruffled chips, but the rest of the guests may not be likely to eat them.
- Bring enough chips for the number of guests coming to the potluck. As a good rule of thumb, you will want at least 1/2 oz of chips per person. So, if the work potluck is for 16 people, you will want to buy one 8oz bags of chips. If there will be 30 people, you will want to bring two 8oz bags of chips!
